Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Country Club in Boynton Beach, Florida is looking for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
Working directly with the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent will play an integral role in the daily maintenance and presentation of the golf course, ensuring exceptional playing conditions for our members and guests.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in planning, organizing, and supervising the daily maintenance of the golf course, practice facilities, and surrounding grounds.
• Lead, train, and motivate the golf course maintenance team while promoting a positive and safe work environment.
• Monitor turf health and assist in implementing agronomic programs, including fertility, pesticide applications, irrigation, and cultural practices.
• Assist with irrigation system troubleshooting, repairs, scheduling, and water management.
• Supervise daily course setup, including cup changing, tee markers, course accessories, and overall presentation.
• Monitor course conditions and recommend improvements to enhance playability and aesthetics.
• Assist with scheduling and directing daily work assignments to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Ensure all maintenance equipment is operated safely and report maintenance needs to the Equipment Manager.
• Maintain accurate records related to chemical applications, irrigation, labor, and maintenance activities.
• Assist in budget management and inventory control for fertilizers, chemicals, seed, and other maintenance supplies.
• Participate in weekend and holiday management rotations.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
Requirements
• Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience on a golf course maintenance team, with supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, fertilizers, pesticides, and golf course maintenance practices.
• Florida pesticide license or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with irrigation systems and golf course maintenance equipment is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Compensation
$50,000 – $60,000 per year.
