Duties

  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports related to construction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements
  • Manage project budgets by monitoring costs, forecasting expenses, and conducting cash flow analysis to optimize resource allocation
  • Reconcile project-related accounts including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and balance sheet accounts using ERP systems such as Sage, Procore, Excel or similar financial software
  • Perform account reconciliation tasks to verify accuracy of project costs and financial data across multiple systems
  • Support cost management initiatives by analyzing variances and providing insights for cost control strategies
  • Assist in financial report writing for internal stakeholders and external auditors by interpreting complex financial data clearly and accurately
  • Conduct detailed data collection and analysis to facilitate accurate forecasting and budgeting for ongoing projects
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls such as SOX procedures while maintaining thorough documentation of all financial transactions

Skills

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial concepts relevant to construction projects
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Excel, Procore or other ERP systems for effective financial management
  • Experience with financial report interpretation and writing tailored reports for diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of public accounting standards and technical accounting practices within a corporate environment
  • Expertise in cash flow analysis, budget development, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting processes
  • Ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation accurately while managing accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Familiarity with forecasting techniques, cost management strategies, payroll processing, and data collection methods for comprehensive financial analysis
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with attention to detail to ensure precise account analysis and account reconciliation efforts
